WIT Sales & Refining recovers and refines precious metals from encapsulated, plated or thin film deposited, hard materials and plating/stripping solutions that are generated by the semiconductor and printed circuit board industries as scrap, waste contaminants, or as byproducts of ongoing maintenance programs of deposition chambers. The selected precious metals are chemically stripped or are removed with a combination of chemicals and abrasive media. Typical hard materials that are processed are printed circuit boards, integrated circuits, electronics devices and hardware, and vapor/vacuum deposition fixtures and sputtering machine shielding.
WIT total chemical stripping capacity is 900 gallons. Of this 400 gallons, two tanks, have a specially designed air sparging system dedicated to the chemical stripping of deposition fixtures and shielding. The remaining 500 gallon tank is for bulk materials such pcb's, ic's, wire, and other kinds of electronics parts and hardware. As an added service for thin film deposition customers, WIT Sales & Refining offers final cleaning of their parts in addition to the primary cleaning and refining of precious metals. Other solids containing metals such sweeps, filters (cathodic, carbon and micron), wipes, and gloves are processed as well. Precious metals bearing solutions such cyanide, iodine, sulfite, acid, and plating line drag-out is the other major source of materials that are refined by WIT Sales & Refining. These materials are Hazardous Waste, and WIT is a registered and licensed Hazardous Waste Transporter by the California DTSC. Precious metals are precipitated from solution and refined to .9995 purity.
WIT Sales & Refining offers as an added service to its Thin Film Deposition customers final cleaning and packaging of their parts or substrates. With the removal and refining of precious metals as the primary cleaning of parts and substrates, the parts are, by approved vendors, particulate cleaned to customer specifications, nitrogen or vacuum purged and packaged for shipment for immediate reuse. If a client opts for this service, WIT can also be the accounting center. After final cleaning and packaging, the parts are returned to WIT for final inspection and invoicing. The Final Cleaning Charges are passed on at no added premium by debiting the credit due for the precious metals that have been recovered. ![]()
